The debate about President Zelenskyy’s attire at the White House continues.
On Friday (February 28), Zelenskyy visited the White House for a historic meeting with Donald Trump.
Since the the war broke out in Ukraine when Russia invaded the country in February 2022, Zelenskyy has only worn all-black, military-style attire to official meetings – Friday included.
While this is nothing new for Zelenskyy, his decision not to wear a suit drew critcism from Americans, with one reporter questioning if he even owned a suit.

Trump jibed that Zelenskyy had ‘dressed up’ for the meeting
The reporter to pose such a question was Brian Glenn. He asked the Ukrainian president: “Why don’t you wear a suit? You’re at the highest level in this country’s office, and you refuse to wear a suit. Do you own a suit?”
Zelenskyy replied: “I will wear a suit after this war is over. Maybe something like yours. Maybe better, maybe cheaper.”
Glenn, who is dating controversial congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, went on to address the matter further on Twitter.
“I have extreme empathy for the people of Ukraine and all of those involved in this destructive war,” his lengthy tweet began.
“The lives that have been lost are precious and that’s something a country can never get back. The war needs to end.”

The reporter went on: “With that said, the United States has given Ukraine over $120b (some say it’s close to 300b) in assistance. That’s hard earned tax dollars from Americans. (Which most Americas are against funding).
“President Zelenskyy has worn the green jumpsuit (or something similar) on every occasion when meeting other world leaders, dressed respectfully for the occasion.
“For him, once again, to enter the highest office in the most powerful nation in the world, dressed as he did, reflects his inner disrespect for not only our country, the President and the US citizens that have made it possible for Ukraine to survive as long as they have to this point. (Financially speaking).”
“Moments after my exchange with President Zelenskyy, we began to hear a slightly different tone/mood from him when engaging with President Trump and VP JD Vance as his attire in fact did begin to reflect his overall attitude towards the negotiations,” Glenn continued.
“So yes, you can judge a book by its cover.
“With that said, I pray for an ending to this war and peace in that region.”
Taylor Greene has also weighed in on the matter.
Sharing a clip of Glenn asking Zelenskyy the question, the Republican penned: “I’m so proud of @brianglenntv for pointing out that Zelensky has so much disrespect for America that he can’t even wear a suit in the Oval Office when he comes to beg for money from our President!!”

Footage from the White House has revealed US President Donald Trump raising his voice at Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
US President Donald Trump and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met at the White House’s Oval Office in Washington DC, earlier today (February 28).
The pair sat down alongside US Vice President JD Vance who proceeded to accuse Zelenskyy of being disrespectful towards both the US and President Trump.
After being told by Vance he ‘should be thanking the president’, Zelenskyy questioned: “Have you ever been to Ukraine? Seen what problems we have? Come once.”
The Ukrainian president reflects on how ‘during the war, everyone has problems’ and just because they don’t ‘feel it now’ doesn’t mean they won’t in ‘the future’.
Trump then butts in, arguing he’s ‘trying to solve a problem’ and saying Zelenskyy is in ‘no position’ to tell them ‘what [they’re] going to feel’.
Raising his voice, he continued: “You’re in no position to dictate what we’re going to feel. We’re going to feel very good. We’re going to feel very good and very strong. You’re right now, not in a very good position, you’ve allowed yourself to be in a very bad position.”
Trump warned: “You don’t have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards … You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people! You’re gambling with World War Three! You’re gambling with World War III. And what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country – this country.”
And it’s not taken long for social media users to weigh in.

One Twitter user said: “Jesus F**king Christ! Watching Trump yell and demean the Ukrainian President is completely disrespectful. What a disgrace.”
Another added: “This is wild.”
A third resolved: “Embarrassing.”
Trump’s accusation of Zelenskyy ‘gambling with WW3’ follows similar warnings he made on February 19 at the Future Investment Initiative Institute Priority Summit held in Miami.

One Twitter user called it ’embarrassing’
Trump said, as quoted by NDTV World: “Around the world, I’m moving quickly to end wars, settle conflicts and restore the planet to peace – I want peace, and I don’t want to see […] everybody being killed.
“And take a look at the death in the Middle East, and the death that’s taking place between Russia and Ukraine that’s been going on, and we’re going to end it. There’s no profit for anyone in having World War III, and you’re not so far away from it, I’ll tell you right now, you’re not so far away.”
