{"id":8428,"date":"2025-02-18T02:22:24","date_gmt":"2025-02-18T02:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/momentsunfolded.com\/?p=8428"},"modified":"2025-02-18T02:23:05","modified_gmt":"2025-02-18T02:23:05","slug":"soldier-husband-sneaks-into-hospital-to-surprise-wife-visiting-preemie-twins-in-nicu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/momentsunfolded.com\/archives\/8428","title":{"rendered":"Soldier husband sneaks into hospital to surprise wife visiting preemie twins in NICU"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class='\"entry-header\"'>\n<h1 class='\"entry-title\"'><span style='\"font-size:'>One the most challenging sacrifices our service men and women make is being apart \u2013 sometimes separated by thousands of miles \u2013 from their families.\n\n<div class='\"entry-content\"'>\n<div class='\"entry-content\"'>\n<div class='\"entry-content\"'>\n<p>Husbands miss wives, fathers and mothers miss children, sons miss parents and siblings \u2026 it can be a tough turn of events for even the hardiest of souls.\n</p><p>What\u2019s more, it\u2019s not just wishing you were with someone that\u2019s the issue.\u00a0Service men and women\u00a0often have to skip milestone days in the lives of those they love; weddings, funerals, even, sometimes, births.\n</p><p>The latter was likely playing on Skyler Cooper\u2019s mind when he spent seven months serving in Kuwait as a member of the Kansas Army National Guard. His wife Cydney was pregnant at the time, and with two young sons, Leighton and Corbett, to look after, the stress was mounting \u2026\n<aside class='\"inline-share-buttons' hide-on-print style2 aria-label='\"Share' buttons><i class='\"fa' fa-facebook>\u00a0Share<i class='\"fa' fa-pinterest>\n<figure class='\"wp-block-image' size-large><img loading='\"lazy\"' decoding='\"async\"' class='\"wp-image-51937\"' src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/cdn-main.newsner.com%5C/wp-content%5C/uploads%5C/sites%5C/11%5C/2020%5C/05%5C/05215248%5C/ommam.jpg%5C%22" alt='\"\"' width='\"686\"' height='\"695\"'><figcaption>\n<p>You see, Cydney was pregnant with twin girls. Furthermore, as per\u00a0Her View From Home, she\u2019d been expecting Skyler to come home in late spring.\n</p><p>Things took a turn for the unexpected, however, when she fell ill with the flu at just 33 weeks, forcing her to give birth prematurely. Babies Emma and Kyla had to remain in the NICU, but Cydney needed to go home since she had two other children to look after.\n</p><p>Once she did, of course, she was a very busy woman indeed, what with all the to-and-fro with the hospital.\n</p><p>In her words, at that point she was \u201changing on by a string\u201d.\n<figure class='\"wp-block-image' size-large is-resized><img loading='\"lazy\"' decoding='\"async\"' class='\"wp-image-51938' lazyautosizes lazyloaded src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/cdn-main.newsner.com%5C/wp-content%5C/uploads%5C/sites%5C/11%5C/2020%5C/05%5C/05215248%5C/cydne.jpg%5C%22" sizes='\"auto,' srcset='\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/05215248\/cydne.jpg' https: alt='\"\"' width='\"581\"' height='\"581\"' data-src='\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/05215248\/cydne.jpg\"' data-srcset='\"https:\/\/cdn-main.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/05\/05215248\/cydne.jpg' data-sizes='\"auto\"' data-eio-rwidth='\"581\"' data-eio-rheight='\"581\"'><figcaption>\n<p>Little did she know that a welcome surprise was waiting just around the corner. One day, when sitting in hospital with one of her 2-week-old babies in her arms, she received a text from her husband asking how they were doing.\n</p><p>Moments later Skyler himself strode into the room, an American flag balloon and flowers in his hand.\n</p><p>He\u2019d been planning the surprise for a couple of weeks, but even he couldn\u2019t have predicted the reaction his wife would have.\n</p><p>As one might expect, it was emotional to say the very least.\u00a0<strong>Grab the tissues and watch the video below:\n<p>&nbsp;\n</p><p>Cydney told\u00a0Good Morning America:\u00a0\u201cI was in shock. I felt like I had to almost take a breath again. I had been bouncing around so much between our boys and the girls, I was also relieved.\u201d\n</p><p>But wait! It gets better.
