In a world that often emphasizes unrealistic beauty standards, influencers like Abby Bible play a crucial role in promoting self-love and body positivity.

Despite facing occasional negativity, the 25-year-old’s commitment to maintaining a positive attitude and celebrating her love for fashion sends a powerful message to her followers.

The 6-foot-1 woman, and size 22 influencer, often explains on her Instagram that she refuses to conform to society’s “toxic” expectations.

When I was a teenager, I thought I would never be considered ‘feminine’ because the media always shows us that we should be tiny, delicate, adorable, and quiet. This idea became a part of me over time, making me believe that being feminine was the only way to be attractive and deserving of a happy life, says a woman from New York. “I’ve been gradually breaking away from these harmful beliefs…”

Bible shared her story on Dr. Phil about body positivity and how she has dealt with weight issues since she was a kid. She mentioned, “When I was 14, I weighed around 200 pounds. I had a personal trainer who wasn’t very kind. They would say that if I wanted to have friends, I needed to lose weight, and that nobody would love me if I was overweight.”

""

At one time, Bible mentioned that she dropped 100 pounds and was around 235 pounds. However, she said that losing the weight didn’t fix any of her issues, and she still felt unhappy even though she had the body that many people desired.

Now, the woman who’s in a loving relationship, is on a mission to remind others that plus-size bodies are “hot” and “look good in a bikini.”

‘Look away’

In a recent TikTok video that’s hit the eyes of more than 82,000 netizens, Bible is seen wearing a red string bikini, responding to a troll who says, “fat people shouldn’t wear string bikinis.”

“If you don’t like it, look away,” she captions the clip, where she playfully gazes into the camera and mouths, “I don’t care.”

Many fans showed incredible support and shared their appreciation for this inspiring woman. One fan said, “I got my first bikini because of you. No joke!” Another fan added, “You look fantastic! I wish I had that kind of body confidence too.”

Tucked between the messages of support are the online trolls, many suggesting she lacks self-respect.

""

“Well, you should care, that’s disrespectful to yourself,” writes one. A second asks, “Where’s your self-respect?” And another offers some advice, “I’m a big [woman] and I say, just because they make it in our size doesn’t mean [you] need to wear it. have some respect for yourself.”

Crippling complications

And though the “unapologetic fashion lover” consistently wows her followers with her fabulous fashion, she continues to be the target of trolls “hating on individuals with larger bodies.”

But it might go deeper than people simply body shaming the lovely woman, whose weight makes her vulnerable to a host of medical problems.

One Facebook user commented, “I can see that she’s really putting a lot of stress on her heart and joints, but that’s her decision!” They also added, “The real concern is when other health issues come up, like diabetes, because it just makes our struggling healthcare system even more overwhelmed!”

A second netizen shares, “I don’t have a problem with body positivity unless it’s promoting a body composition with very serious health risks as the new normal.”

I really believe in the importance of inner beauty and that everyone should be able to wear whatever they want. However, I’m worried that she might face serious health problems like diabetes, heart issues, and joint pain. The comment goes on to say, “I hope she can still feel good about herself if she ends up in a wheelchair or stuck in bed. It’s really sad that she doesn’t realize how her choices are hurting her health.”

""

The Bible, which hasn’t ignored the health worries of its readers, reminds everyone, “Being thin doesn’t make you superior to me.”

She adds, “I am an unapologetic fat girl…You can take it or leave it because I’m always going to be happy with myself.”

In the end, what really counts is happiness. If Bible believes she has found it, we just hope her health lets her keep feeling happy.
